European Movement speaker service

What is the Speaker Service?

The European Movement operates a speaker service. The speakers, whose backgrounds range from the academic to the political, will speak on and debate all aspects of European issues, like e.g. Britain's place in the EU, fiscal and monetary policy, enlargement, integration, the Common Agricultural Policy, the EU Treaties, the Constitutional Treaty, the future of Europe, etc.

The European Movement’s speaker service is the only one of its kind in the UK putting the positive case for Britain's membership of the EU. Predominantly we provide speakers for schools' and colleges' sixth form debates, and university debating clubs or Europe Societies. We operate nationwide and reach between 8,000 to 10,000 students each year.

The requests for speakers are generated by the schools themselves. For example, during March this year we provided speakers to 14 educational establishments ranging from King David High School in Liverpool, William Farr School near Lincoln, Stantonbury Campus in Milton Keynes, and Dane Court Grammar School in Kent.  Our speakers range from former MEPs, parliamentary candidates, academics, journalists, businessmen and current or former staffers of the European institutions.

Need a speaker?

Please download and complete the speaker request form and e-mail it to Anna Newton Dunn, our speaker service officer, at annanewtondunn(at)aol.com

Why donate?

The Service is run with great professionalism for nothing other than minimum expenses by Anna. Without Anna's dedicated work, schools will only get speakers on the EU provided by UKIP, Civitas and other hostile groups.

Donations can be made through the European Educational Research Trust, which is a registered charity (charity number 313600).  Cheques should be made out to the "European Educational Research Trust", and can be sent via the office of the European Movement.  Alternatively you can make a donation directly to the European Movement itself, either by cheque or online through a secure Paypal payment:

“The European Union is more important to Britain than ever, which means that the European Movement is too.  The case for Europe needs to be put loud and clear. Join me in the European Movement to put the pro-European case.”
